An Interview with Author Ian Neil
Due to the rise in sophisticated attacks and ever-increasing dependency on cloud and IoT integration, this book purely focuses on the objectives of the updated SY0-601 exam, which include the following topics:
Cloud security Securing increasing virtualization platforms Protecting the IoT environment Securing online payment systems Monitoring tools Application skills such as administration and configuration skills Network access control models

What’s your CompTIA background, and how has this helped you write the book?
I’ve been teaching Security+ since the 401 version, and I deliver this course to candidates ranging from logistic managers to IT personnel, some of whom are new to IT. As a full-time trainer, I deliver lessons in a class environment for about 45 weeks a year, and I’m in constant touch with the people that this book was written for.
Over the past three years, I have successfully certified over 1,400 students in a classroom environment, making me one of the most experienced CompTIA Security+ trainers to learn from.

Who did you write this book for?
When I wrote this book, I thought of the person who wanted to earn the CompTIA Security+ certification to enable their careers to take off. This applies mainly to DOD and US Military as well as those seeking degrees or careers in cybersecurity.
The book is also an excellent resource for managers and CEOs who would like an overview of security so that they can converse with their cybersecurity team. I’ve taken technical information and broken it down into manageable chunks so that readers can understand the concepts easily.

What makes this guide different from other SY0-601 titles?
Keeping in mind the feedback that I’ve received as a CompTIA trainer over the last three years, the content is written in a simple format so that it is easy-to-understand and not full of legal jargon. To help students understand the more challenging areas of the syllabus, there are very easy-to-understand diagrams, and the book is filled with examples of the technology being described.
I’ve avoided putting in about 150-200 pages of irrelevant fluff that you don’t need to know while retaining the information you need to understand topics and become certified. The book is affordable for everyone to purchase, too.
Other books often use multiple choice questions to review each chapter, whereas in this book, the questions are open-ended, and you need to know the information to get the questions right. I’ve also included two multiple choice mock exams at the rear of the book to test your application of information, and some of these questions are very difficult.
